God wants us to enlarge the place of our tent, but that does not just mean that we should buy a house with more square footage. He wants us to enlarge the place that we have prepared for Him to dwell, the place of our heart, the seat of our heart’s desires. He wants us to desire Him with all our heart and allow Him to expand His Presence in and through us. If we are willing to enlarge our heart toward Him, He will bring into our sphere of influence those whom He has appointed for us to reach for His kingdom purposes. He will see to it that they “stretch out the curtains of our dwellings.” If we make the decision to “spare not,” He will empower us to lengthen our cords and strengthen our stakes. Then we will expand to the right and the left. He will indeed cause our descendants to inherit the nations and make the desolate cities inhabited. All He asks of us is that we open our hearts more fully and freely to Him. If we will enlarge His dwelling place (our heart), He will fulfill all His promises and expand His influence in and through us. He longs for us to abide in Him, and He desires to abide in us. “‘Abide in Me, and I in you.'” John 15:4a The question is: Will I open my heart more completely to His Presence?
